There has been a lot of confusion over how to register for corporate tax since the UAE announced it! Now, the EmaraTax has made the entire process of Corporate Tax Registration a breeze with its online portal. This blog will guide you through the entire process of registering your business for corporate tax on the EmaraTax portal and ensure that you stay up-to-date with the latest tax regulations. We will help you navigate through the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) portal and submit the Corporate Tax Registration application.  So let’s get started!

In order to be eligible to register for corporate tax, either voluntarily or mandatorily, you must meet the requirements outlined in Federal Decree-Law Number (47) of 2022. The applicant may be either a natural person (such as an individual) or a legal person (such as a public joint stock company, incorporated, or a government authority).

Here are the steps for registering corporate tax on the EmaraTax Portal!

  • You can log in to your EmaraTax account either by entering your login credentials or through UAE Pass.
  • Upon logging in, the Taxable Person list screen will be shown. It will show the list of Taxable Persons connected to your EmaraTax account. If your user profile does not have any linked Taxable Persons, the list will be blank and you will need to make one.
  • You need to choose the taxable person from the list and click 'View' to open the dashboard.
  • To begin the Corporate Tax registration application, click the 'Register' button on the Corporate Tax tile in the Taxable Person dashboard.
  • Once you open the page, you will see some directions and information about CT Registration. Make sure to read them carefully and then click the checkbox to confirm that you have understood them. Now press 'Start' to launch the CT Registration application.
  • Choose the type of company you have from the list in the entity information area. Note that the fields in this section may be different depending on the entity type you select.
  • Once all the required fields have been filled out, select "Next Step" to save your information and proceed to the "Identification Details" section.
  • Once you have filled out all the required fields, click "Next Step" to save your progress and proceed to the "Contact Details" section. Now, provide the business's registered address information.
  • Once all the required information is filled out, click 'Next Step' to save the information and proceed to the 'Authorized Signatory' section. Once the necessary data for an Authorized Signatory is filled out, press the 'Add' button.
  •  Once you have filled out all of the required fields, click 'Next Step' to save your information and proceed to the "Review and Declaration" section. (This section outlines all the information you have provided in this application. Please carefully review it and apply officially.)
  •  Press 'Submit' to finalise the Corporate Tax Registration application.

What next?

Once the application is submitted, the FTA will decide to approve, deny, or ask for more details and inform the applicant of the outcome. Once the FTA has been accepted your application, you will be informed of the result.
